A wee bit of background……..
Thanks for visiting my website. I am Helen Stirling BSc.(hons) dipCart.
Born and brought up in Ayrshire; married with 2 children; now based in Inverness, Highlands of Scotland.
BSc.Hons Geography form Edinburgh University, 1984.
Diploma in Cartography from Glasgow University, 1985.
Four years as a cartographer with the Forestry Commission (now Forest and Land Scotland).
Freelance since 1990.
As a freelance cartographer I was delighted to be the recipient of 4 cartographic awards:
Society of Cartographers Wallis Award 2007 for an Inverness Street Map.
British Cartographic Scoiety Stanfords Award 2008 for Moray Health Walks.
Society of Cartographers Wallis Award 2015 for the Black Isle Active Travel Map.
British Cartographic Scoiety Stanfords Award 2023 Highly Commended for Explore Loch Ness.
Aside from mapping, you might find me: in the garden; up a mountain; out on my bike; or appreciating and playing music (particularly traditional Scottish music).
